India’s electric scooter market is growing rapidly, with several new brands and models entering the segment. One of the most iconic scooters from the 1980s and 1990s, the Bajaj Chetak, has successfully reinvented itself as a modern electric scooter and is now one of the strongest performers in the EV two-wheeler market.
The big news is that Bajaj has officially confirmed an all-new Chetak model, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2026.
This announcement was highlighted during Bajaj’s FY26 Q2 conference call, which was filed with the BSE. According to vehicle registration data, the Bajaj Chetak became India’s best-selling electric scooter in October 2025, reflecting its growing popularity among Indian consumers.
Rising fuel prices, low operating costs, and eco-friendly performance have made electric scooters a preferred choice in India. However, many buyers still look for a brand they can trust—and the Chetak name has been associated with reliability for decades.
